Born in Grass Valley in Northern California, Rust has spent most of his professional life in New York. He came to Los Angeles six years ago to work as story editor for the Disney Studios. He became interested in the theater producing radio's famous Theater Guild on the Air and its television counterpart, the U.S.

Steel Hour. Busy Life Some people contend they simply don't know anyone like the characters in "Virginia Woolf." Basically healthy people, says Rust, will recognize quite a few people like George and Martha, maybe even themselves. As actor and teacher, Rust manages a busy life in the theater when he is not directing. Sometimes he indulges in a few fanta-s I himself. His big is to have a theater of his own.

"My ambition in life," he says, "is to contribute to the theater so that good actors can make a living in it. Theater should never be a means to an end. That's the trouble with little theaters. They're turn to Hotel Sahara's Congo Room, picking up where he left off 15 months ago. A high point of Goulet's program takes him into the audience for a singing session aimed at one fluttering female after another.

Comedian Norm Crosby precedes the singer with his usual mutilation of historical facts. The Moro Landis Dancers present an Oriental fantasy. Louis Basil's orchestra backs the show. Connie Francis opens Nov. 8.

The old master, Joe E. Lewis, is packing the Aladdin Hotel's show room these nights with devotees of his style of humor, which is ageless. A veteran craftsman, Lewis mixes old and new jokes in laugh-filled sessions. All Comedy Slate The all-comedy program Includes Jackie Mason, held over for the umpteenth time, and Pearl Williams. When this trio winds up at the Aladdin, they'll be followed by Billy Eck-stine and Red Foxx.

A new singing discovery of Jack' Entratter, president of the Sands Hotel, has been booked for a heavy calendar of club dates. He's Bob Fletcher, who was working as a production singer at the Sands until Entratter took an interest in him. Fletcher will play the hotel's Celebrity Theater beginning Nov. 30 after commitments in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Playboy Clubs. The upcoming Christmas holiday period will be a busy one in Las Vegas with both Dunes and Tro-picana Hotels unwrapping Yule packages.
