James Roosevelt, chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee, today was the target of criticism by Irwin R. (Bob) Snyder of Tujunga, California Department Commander, at the American Legion's fourth area caucus which was attended by 500 delegates from four Southern California counties.

Snyder assailed a recent magazine article by Roosevelt in which the eldest son of the late President, Snyder said, accused the State Legion of not showing interest in veterans' housing problems. "Roosevelt's charge is entirely erroneous," Snyder declare'd. "Veterans' housing is of vital concern to us and we are taking all possible steps to alleviate this condition." Snyder also scored the American Veterans' Committee, of which Roosevelt is a member. He said that at a recent convention the A.V.C. voted down by a margin of only 17 votes a proposal which upheld Communism as "the highest form of democracy." Reached at his home tonight, Roosevelt said the public should "read what each of us has to say and decide for themselves who is right." He said he was unaware of any A.V.C.
