(Jff A A tPLJeVV $5.00 $8.00 but very good can well, IS I B. LONG FRANK 6951 619 South tered happiness, as delightful as the day was long. The beautiftil friend- Klup between Mrs. Sartori and this fa vored adopted daughter Is one of the most charming things we know of. The debutante ball will be a wonderful affair, and the invitation list grows apace.

With the inimitable Mrs. Sartori for hostess and so charming a guest of honor, it fail to a most pronounced success. Amongst the young bridal hostesses, of the season, young Mrs. H. Smith, daughter of Mrs.

Hugh MeNiel, will take front rank. Dr. and Mrs. Smith are at present enjoying a European honeymoon and return early in November. Mrs.

Smith is a very charming little woman in her own right, but it must be confessed that up till now Fhe has largely basked in the reflected clory of her own mother's dlstln guished personality. Mrs. Hugh MeNiel Is essentially the grand dame, with her beautiful white hair and her most distinguished presence. A natural leader of society, she has become the particular social asset bt her largo circle. Her views upon most questions aro very pronounced and she has a knack of securing her own way that makes her a power to be reckoned with.

Intensely musical In'the best sense, she is a great patron of the symphony concerts, which sho has helped to establish on the best possible social footing here. Her daughter, young Mrs. Smith, is credited with very unconventional tastes, and her entertainments, of which many are promised, are looked forward to with a good deal of Interest Mr. and Mrs. Vosburg the latter was formerly Miss Slauson, as also was Mrs.

Hugh MeNiel will return to town In October, and so likewise will Mr. and Mrs. James Slauson, in order to give the young bridal couple a suitable welcome upon their homecoming. and Mrs. Jarvls Barlow, Mrs.

Folana, and one or two other members of the family seemed to be enjoying themselves hugely at the baseball match recently. They had a box, which they filled very comfortably, and altogether seemed to be a very merry family party. Mrs. Frank Hicks Is another iriOthef to launch a young and exacting debutante this season. Miss Elizabeth, keenly expectant of all the good things society has In store for her, is metaphorically casting an inquiring eye upon mamma and papa these days.

Mrs. Hicks Is very retiring, with distinct domestic leanings, but papa Hicks Is all too well endowed with the wherewithal for debutante entertainments, so mamma is unlikely to escape the ordeal. Mr. and Mrs. William M.

Garland will return home shortly end will open their lovely home for the winter. There are whispers of Interesting little parties to be held In this domicile at no distant date a sort of series Jf one understands aright. Mrs. Garland Is a charming hostess, petite, rather Frenchy in taste and dress, and with a fascinating sueestion of Irish In her speech. Somehow her name of "Blanche" seems to suit her admirably, and she makes an interesting and chlo picture driving about the city In her little electric brougham.

Miss Eleanor Banning, daughter of Hancock Banning, Is to have her debut postponed another yejtr. She recently returned from Miss Spence's seminary at New Tork. and now goes to Marlborough for the ensuing year. Mrs. George Caswell, the ardent is In command at Marl-borougli, where the young ladles are carefully protected from the ballot microbe.

Miss Marie Crow, of artistic penchant. Mils for Japan on October 25. Before that date the Crows will have moved Into town from Pasadena and will make their home here In future. Miss Marie Crow has something of reputation for her uncommon taste In dress, which Is usually pronouncedly French and exceedingly becoming to her etj'le of features. Ran Franclsoo Cuet.
