DENT Dtlroit, Mtcn. cussing the relations between the wife and husband, said that he would not undertake to punish the mother, who had secured a divorce, by taking away her children. It was alleged on behalf of the wife- that Bartee still associates with the woman who first made trouble in the family. The father may visit the children. DEMANDS JUSTICE.

Deserted, a mother at 15 years, pretty Frances Dalvoskl of Palo Verde, San Diego county, daughter of Peter Dalvoskl, lies at the County Hospital in danger of death, and cries' for Justice against her alleged betrayer Harry Wilson, a young man of Palo Aierde. The girl tells a pitiable story. Last March she was a care free maiden of fourteen. One night, she says, Harry Wilson asked her and his own sister to go to the postoffice. Returning home he left his sister and then took pretty llttla Frances, through lonely ways to her home.

The girl says he overcame her "by violence. Last Fourth of July she left her home to hide her disgrace and sought domestic service at Hemet. Her employers discovered her condition after a few weeks, and later sent her to Riverside, where she appealed to Dr. Van Zwaluenberg for treatment. He sent the girl to the County Hospital.

From there she wrote to the young man's mother at Palo Verde, and received a reply that Harry denied all knowledge of the affair. Today Superintendent Powell of the County Hospital communicated the facts to the Sheriff of San Diego. Harry Wilson" will be arrested on the girl's complaint. As the girl Is under age the young man may have to stand trial on a felony charge. The girl seems still to love him but Is Incensed at what she terms brutal treatment.

Until ehe received the mother's cold reply to her appeal, she refused to Uate the nme of her chili's father. NLAItGING THE TILE WORKS. MAKE TERRA COTTA, PRESSED AND FIREPROOF BRICK. "Tropical pauoe," the manufacture of which has long since ceased, savpj the life of a valuable horse belonging: to George Miller of Highland, yesterday. The animal had been taken seriously ill, and veterlnariea of local renown failed to work a cure finally Imparting to Miller the news that the animal would surely die.

Nothing daunted at this announcement Miller remembered that he had an. old bottle of "Tropical uauce" lh the house. He decided to make an experiment. Mixing some of the sauco with an equal part of whisky he administered the dose, which resulted In putting the animal to sleep. From early, in the morning until late in the afternoon the horse slept, the first sleep it had had for two days.

When it awoke It went to eating hay, seemingly perfectly cured of Its Indisposition, and this morning waj ready for Its dally exercise In a trot-tiog rig. "Tropical sauce" was formerly manufactured by Mayor H. M. Barton of this city. It was supposed to be destined to prove a stiff rival of Worcester sauce, but one day the sauce works shut down.

Soon afterward Mayor Barton brought suit against a vinegar company for $25,000 damages, claiming that the "Tropical sauce" business had failed because poor vinegar had been furnished. NARROW ESCAPE WITH HER LIFE AT COLTON. Chinaman Who Holda the Reina is Sought by the Officers Victim Says She Believes He Attempted to Murder Her Pretty Arabian Women Kiss Officers' Feet. COLTON, Jan. 8, "I fully believe that Chinaman attempted to kill me and that It is little short of a miracle that I escaped with my life," exclaimed Miss Hattle Ward last evening when she was brought bruised and almost overcome, to the home of her brother, E. E.

Miss Ward Is the teacher of the La Loma school, near Hlghgrove. She makes her home In Hlghgrove, but was visiting In Colton yesterday. In the afternoon she started for home, riding her wheel.

While on South Eighth street, she saw a Chinaman in his vegetable wagon, coming behind her. The latter was beating his horses and they were going at a lively puce. Miss Ward took care to ride on the right hand side of the road and attempted to turn the corner before he should overtake her. As the wagon drew nearer, she saw that the horses were coming directly toward her. She turned farther to the right, and, frightened, almost into the sidewalk.

In another moment the horses were upon the young woman. She was knocked from her wheel, and when the animals came to a standstill she lay almost unconscious under their feot, and close to the heavy wheels. She was brought to her brother's home and the number of the vegetable wagon was taken. The offlcers without doubt will have the Chinaman located soon. KISSES OFFICERS' FEET.

TOP BLOWN FROM HEAD OF TUS-TIN MAN. Body Found in a Walnut Orchard a Mils from tha House Whether His Life Went by Suicide or Ac-cident May Not be Determined. Trolley Way Suits. SANTA ANA. Jan.

8. The body of Heber B. Alderman, aged 39 and a resident of Tustin for more than twenty years, was found this morning In a walnut orchard a mile from Alderman's homo. The top of the head was blown off by a bullet from a 30-30 caliber rifle, which was found across the man's body as it lay face upward -on the ground. Alderman had been under a nhvsl clan's care for some time, and evi dently wandered from his room last night while suffering from temporary mental derangement.

Whether his death was the result of a deliberate suicide or of an accidental discharge ot me gun win probably never be determined. When found Mr. and Mrs. Kelly of East Second street the body was still warm, Indicating that death occurred about 5 o'clock. It was resting under a walnut tree In an orchard near the corner of East Side and Fourth streets, and from the position of the gun and body it is not Improbable that the unfortunate man leaned against the tree, and the rifle was discharged with the butt resting on the ground and the muzzle almost touching the head.

The bullet entered the right temple and tore off the top of the Bkull. C. W. Sheats, brother-in-law of the dead man. Inclines to the belief that death was accidental.

He believes that Alderman left his house under the sway of some hallucination. His steps show that he ran most of the way to the spot where the body was found, taking leaps five and six feet in length as If In fear of some pursuing object An empty shell was found near the spot, leading Mr. Sheats to the bellof that Alderman shot one cartridge from the rifle, threw back the magazine, but failed to release the hammer, so that when he leaned against the tree the rest of the gun was accidentally dis charged as It struck the ground. Alderman was clad only in shirt and trousers and was without hat, shoes or coat. Yesterday and at several times previously he has suffered from hallucinations.

The dead man was unmarried. He resided with his father, Albert M. Al derman with his brother-in-law, C. W. Sheats.

Miller concerning certain postoffice fixtures was decided today by Judge Noyes In favor of Evans. Frank Miller, as the former manager of the Rubldoux Building Association, sold certain postoffice fixtures which were the property of the association. When Evans secured control of the association his Inventory showed that no accounting had been made for these fixtures. He Immediately demanded that Miller should pay their value. The.

case went to arbitration of Harry Chase who awarded Evans $400. Miller offered his check for $143 and a contract with him from the Rubldoux Building Association to pay $6 per month long aa the postoflloe was retained in Its present location at Sixth and Main streets. Judge Noyes today decided that this setoff was Invalid for the reason that the secretary was not authorized by resolution of the board to draw It and the subsequent act of the directors In ratifying certain payments did not amount to an authorization of the secretary's original act. The caw Jias attracted wide attention on account of the bitterness with which the parties have contested every Inch of the caae. It is thought that Jt will be appealed.
