www.guerragutierrez.com Edward S. Edward Tomaso (born 1921) died surrounded by his family the morning of July 5. What a man he was! From his journal: "I was the first of my family to go to college (Stanford on an athletic scholarship in track and field). Now a CPA, writing this at noon on a Saturday where I can see only my terrace and the Pacific Ocean curving downward at the horizon. How with all my mistakes from childhood now, how did I get here, writing this? It must have been good luck.

And that really true for everyone who, in the words of Albert Camus, accepts whatever life offers, and has a taste for happiness?" Ed loved life with passion. He was a writer, scuba diver, a jazz lover, a runner. He ate, drank and body surfed with gusto, adored Virginia, his wife, his family: Zenna, Julie and Scott, his many friends and his daughter, Carla Tomaso and her partner, Mary Hayden. He served as president of Neighborhood Church in Pasadena as well as chair of the Stanford Buck Club. Ed also owned an accounting business, S.

Edward Tomaso and Associates, for many successful years. His grandfather, Salvatore, an Italian immigrant, led a mandolin orchestra in Chicago until bringing his extended family to Glendale for health reasons. Due to tuberculosis, Ed and his sister Lorraine, lost their parents, Tory and Lillian, soon after the move. Raised by his grandparents, Ed had a good childhood, pole vaulting in the back yard with a home made bamboo stick, working as sports editor of the Glendale High School newspaper, ushering at the Alex Theater and then going to Stanford University, his second home. From his journal: "I am ever grateful for the world we live in, which gives so much to us, and requires so much from us." We will miss Ed tremendously.

He taught us a lot about how to live well.
