SPURNED: Three Die Continued from First Page Last Monday, Cuevas voluntarily discussed the matter with deputies in apologetic tones and promised to stay away from the girl, Minnis said. Meanwhile, The Times learned, Cuevas did not report for work and subsequently was fired. Fellow employees at the plating shop said Cuevas, a short, slender youth, was a quiet "loner" who kept to himself. Cuevas, who lived with his mother in Whittier, spent much of his spare time at the Morales home near the 605 Freeway before he broke up with Anna, neighbors said.
