Gob Awflriefl Stones Natalie Wood Found Dead Off Ca talma Had Taken Inflatable Boat Out Alone for Evening Ride While on Weekend Cruise By TED THACKREY JR., Times Staff The body of actress Natalie Wood was found floating Sunday in the ocean off Santa Catalina Island, where she had been spending a holiday weekend with her husband, actor Robert Wagner. Los Angeles County lifeguards and sheriff's deputies said Miss Wood, 43, apparently drowned after falling overboard from an inflatable boat that was found beached near the body. An autopsy was performed this morning by the Los Angeles County coroner's office. Details were to be made available later in the day. Friends said the Wagners and a friend, actor Christopher Walken, with whom Miss Wood was starring in the film "Brainstorm," arrived at the island Friday aboard the 60-foot 60-foot 60-foot Wagner yacht, Splendour. They went first to Avalon, then Writer Harbor director Bombard, who said he lifted the actress' remains from the water, told reporters there were no obvious external injuries, A county lifeguard spokesman said it rained several times at the isthmus Saturday night, but the sea's surface was "not especially rough nothing a 14-foot 14-foot 14-foot inflatable boat like Miss Wood had couldn't handle." . Her friend and occasional interviewer, interviewer, Roderick Mann, a columnist for The Times, said Miss Wood was 'Wagner took his small cruiser and went to look for her. '
